So i'm just gonna post some random interesting stuff here in Mexico, random things that are kinda fun :)
This is Adrian being Adrian. He basically wants to be american and he's pretty awesome
These are mine and Luis's beds. I'm the one on the right, ya know the messy one
This is what we had for lunch today. Those green bean looking things are actually called nopales (prickley pears) and are not very good haha even if they do look like green beans they are NOT. The meat is basically beef but it is seriously lgood and that was potato soup with bacon! can't complain about this meal!
They sell coke in 2.5 liter bottles here!! sweet huh!! they also sell them in tiny little mini bottles, and every possible bottle size you can imagine!
Some of the students playing monopoly, we've got them addicted to it now that we taught them business rules and how to win. Beto who is in the tan polo almost always wins. The kid is a stud!
And whenever the students have any free time you always always see them on facebook. That's one thing that is definitely not different here in Mexico.

So now it is February 16th and I can't believe I have been here over a month now! There have definitely been some big ups and downs while I've been here but overall it's been pretty great. While I've been down here I've been exercising again and getting in shape like I use to be and I'm starting to look a lot better :) I'm also learning how to play guitar! I can play Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, and Stuck like Glue by SugarLand and then I've been working on chords but it's way fun! I'm really enjoying it and finally I am making some progress and actually being able to play somewhat! This weekend we are going to see the pyramids!! I'm really excited! Check out how huge this one is!!

And yes those tiny little specs on the stairs and on the left in the open are people.

This is how it compares to the Great Pyramid of Giza!

Yeah I'm pretty excited to go see them on Saturday. I'm actually going with Jeremi and his Dad who will be in town, so it should be a really awesome trip!

Other exciting things...um...a lot of the students dressed up as characters a couple of days ago when they went out selling, and actually did a pretty good job of making their costumes! (I've been trying to upload a picture of them for like an hour but the dang computer doesn't like me and won't upload them. so i'll try to put them up later)

I've been teaching Danny, the bishop's son, English for two weeks now! He's a lot of fun and quite the handful, it's really hard to get him to focus on learning when all he wants to do is just talk. He kinda listens to me and will repeat the words I tell him to but I can tell that he really isn't paying any attention and just wants to play. So what we are doing is playing some baseball every Tuesday as a reward for studying and practicing his English! He really likes this idea, cause he absolutely loves baseball!

Till next time guys!

Wow I can't believe I haven't posted in a week! It's probably cause I've gotten really busy now! I'm now teaching three English classes. I'm teaching Gandhi and Jacobo, and they are my priority because they have to be able to pass the TOEFL test (its an English test for international students to get into united states colleges) and They are basically the reason that I am here because they have to be able to pass that test or they can't work at the academy anymore. I am also teaching Jeremi's assistant Marvin and his wife Amanda, who I went to Tepoztlan with a few weeks ago. Marvin speaks great English so he's really easy to teach, and Amanda is catching up really quickly.
I also have started teaching a local Bishop's six year old son. Teaching him is probably my favorite thing to do. His name is Danny and he loves baseball. His English is very limited but I'm working with him a lot and I know I can get him speaking pretty good soon :) We have lessons from 2-3 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and they are paying me! I make 150 pesos a week which is just awesome! I mean that's less than $15 dollars but it is still money that I have while I'm down here. This next Tuesday I told him to bring his bat, ball and glove so we could play some ball and practice his baseball English. I think the baseball thing could turn into a regular thing! He is always full of energy and just lots of fun. I'll post a picture of him when he comes again next Tuesday and I hopefully have received my camera charger so that I can have my camera again!
So basically it has been raining for the last week. Not constantly the entire time but has rained at least twice every day, and a couple nights ago was an absolutely down pour! I've never seen so much rain before! It definitely doesn't rain like this back in Utah, but I'm also really liking it.
I had a chance to go to the Carnival last Thursday! It was really cool! They have a lot of the same rides that we have at Summerfest every year except there are NO fences around the rides! like you can literally walk right on to the Roller Coaster if you're not careful! the spinning teacup like ride you walk right up next to and it's just crazy! There were sooo many people and it was packed in like nothing else! but it was also really fun and cool to see the new culture!
So basically this is really turning into an awesome experience and it's just great to get to know everyone down here! There is another dance tonight too that I'm going to with the other members of the staff and I'm way excited! (sorry I forgot that I went to a dance last friday too! It's really really fun and I was dancing Bachata and Salsa and all these way fun Mexican dances! It's just like a stake dance back home but with all YSAs and everyone actual dances!)

First day of February! Well I got here 22 days ago! It's been almost a month now and I can't believe it's February now! I just remembered that I hadn't told you about this weekend!

So to get to Tepoztlan in Morelos you have to take a bus to the Metro, and ride the metro for about an hour to the very southern edge of the city. There you jump on a Charter bus and take that for a little over an hour to the little pueblo of Tepoztlan! On the bus they played Prince of Persia in Spanish! It was really cool getting to watch it in spanish and actually have to try to understand what they are saying! When we got there we took a taxi to Amanda's parents house and went right to sleep. Here's a picture of the house
The house is built on top of a giant tank for water and the whole house and the adjacent rooms are set up so that all the rain water drains into this tank. It's really nice cause they use all this water to water their plants,  filling the dog bowls, and going to the bathroom!
As you can see there is no tank on the toilet. So in order to flush the toilet you had to fill a bucket of water and take it with you to the bathroom, which is more of an outhouse cause it is not attatched to the house. You do your business and then pour the water into the bowl, kinda interesting I know.
This is the Shower that we used! Showering with rain water was something new for me! In order to heat up the water for your shower you have to light a fire under a smaller tank that is adjacent to the big tank and heat the water up in it in order to have hot water for your shower, and it only stays hot for as long as the fire is going and a little bit after. You actually have to plan ahead to take a shower, you can't just go take one.

Amanda's mom is 100% full bred Mexican and her dad is 100% full bred German! He has lived in Mexico for over 40 years now and still speaks Spanish with a German accent! It's actually pretty interesting to hear him talk, but he's a really funny guy and totally looks German too!

So we slept way in on saturday and didn't wake up till like ten! It was absolutely fantastic, we woke up had corn pops in yogurt and were on our way! We went to downtown in a convey (basically a van that is a bus) and looked around at all the shops. Tepoztlan is kind of like the St. George of Mexico if Mexico City is Salt Lake. It is where all the rich people have their Winter homes. All the streets are cobblestone but that doesnt stop them from driving Mercedes-Benz SLK's on them!

From down town we went literally straight up the mountain to Tepoztcan, which is the name of this pyramid!
So when you get to the top of the climb and you are thoroughly worn out and your knees and feet hurt, is when they tell you that it costs 43 pesos to climb the pyramid! Totally thought it was going to be free till we got up there, at which point they tell you that you have to pay for it!

Tepoztican was built in the 1500s sometime and is literally at the top of a mountain! I can't even imagine what on earth would posses them to haul all the stone to the top of the mountain to build this! The hike is an easy 2km and is never flat at all, it is literally straight up the mountain. The Pyramid isn't the biggest pyramid in the world but still impressive for being at the top of the mountain.

This a view from near the base of the pyramid
From the first level. Haha the pyramid doesnt look nearly as impressive from this angle but it's still awesome!
 Some cool carvings
I dunno if you can read this but it gives the basic history of the temple

What they think the temple probably looked like with its roof on still!
How steep a significant portion of the trail is! yeah it's crazy!
 Steep Stairs!
 Some really cool roots
This is a base of a pyramid that no longer exists in downtown Tepoztlan. This pyramid would have been much bigger than Tepoztican! Pretty Cool!
The view from the top of the Pyramid! We started in the middle of that city down there!
A cute animal at the top that really like human stuff! although he does have some pretty wicked nails!

So after we got back down we went back to Amanda's house and had the most delicious Meat balls that I have ever had! We had them with Hand-made tortillas which were the greatest hand made tortillas that I have ever eaten! I seriously could just eat those tortillas and be totally happy, they put all other tortillas to shame!
We went to church the next day and it was really interesting to see the new ward and how everything was exactly the same as back home in Utah except it was all in Spanish and there are a lot less people.
After church we jumped on a bus and came back to the Academy

I'd say this weekend was pretty awesome overall! I had the chance to get out of the city of 20+ Million people and back into the mountains where I belong and loved it! After getting back nothing really new has happened here on campus other than I had a chance to go to downtown again yesterday to buy lights and that was pretty cool!

I think I'm done though now! Comment on my posts so that I can see who is reading these and ask me about stuff you want to know about and I'll post them in future posts!
